I have lived an incredibly interesting life full of so many fabulous experiences - too numerous to name. But there is one that stands out and I must tell you about it.
I came from a family of hand stitchers and my hobbies as a child were embroidery and needlepoint. Somewhere along the line, I stopped doing any of that. But a few years ago, I made a trip with Alex to Alabama Chanin in Florence, Alabama. There we learned the art of hand stitching on pre-printed stencil designs on knit fabric. The itch to hand stitch came back.
So as we all do, I went down a rabbit hole on the internet to find other professional hand stitchers and teachers. The designers who I discovered that suited my sensibilities were mostly in Europe and the one that stood out was Mandy Pattullo. Mandy is a textile designer working out of a converted manse in rural Northumberland.
